Week Ahead: Witchy Women Fundraiser, Last Call For Parade Entries, Exhibits

WONDERFUL WITCHY WOMEN FUNDRAISING LUNCHEON

The Wonderful Witchy Women with a Cause luncheon and fundraiser is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel, 170 So. Market St. The event raises money for three charities: The Heritage Home, Freedom House and InnVision Shelter Network. What sets the group apart from other groups are the big beautiful embellished Halloween hats worn by the attendees making the event a sight to behold with the many different types of glamorous headdress being worn. Guests from the three charities will speak ensuring that every attendee knows exactly how their charitable funds will be spent. Tickets are $100 and can be purchased by clicking here. LAST WEEK TO SUBMIT LOS GATOS CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAYS PARADE ENTRIES

The 57th annual Los Gatos Children's Christmas/Holidays Parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 and this is the last week to submit an entry form to participate in the popular event. The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18. Entries received after the deadline will be put on a waiting list and accommodated only if there is a cancellation. Information may be typed into the form, then the form printed out and the "Hold Harmless Agreement" signed, before submitting the form. To download all pertinent documents, please click here.

BACKWARD IS FORWARD EXHIBIT AT LOS GATOS ART MUSEUM

The Museums of Los Gatos presents Backward is Forward: Layer and Impact in Printmaking exhibit through Jan. 12, 2014 at the Art Museum of Los Gatos, 4 Tait Ave. The show features prints by Enrique Chagoya, Hung Liu, Sam Francis, David Gilhooly, Gregory Edwards, Michael Mazur, Frank Lobdell, Andrew Romanoff, Inez Storer, Nathan Oliveira, Erik Bakke, Joan Miro, Marguerite Saegesser, Ruth Wall, Kathy Aoki, Vicky M. Chen, Tom Killion, Jessica Dunne, and Robin McCloskey. Artists have been using printmaking processes for centuries to create thought-provoking works of art, however the details of the medium are often a mystery to viewers. Details: 408-395-7386,

NORTH 40 SPECIFIC PLAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING

The North 40 Specific Plan Advisory Committee, the advisory body tasked with creating a document that will guide future development of the North 40 area, meets  at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Los Gatos Town Council Chambers, 110 E. Main St. The future development area in Los Gatos is bounded by Highway 85 on the north, Lark Avenue on the south, Highway 17 on the west, and Los Gatos Boulevard on the east. 'AMERICAN BOHEMIA: THE CATS ESTATE IN LOS GATOS' EXHIBIT AT HISTORY MUSEUM

The History Museum of Los Gatos at Forbes Mill, 75 Church St., presents a new exhibit called "American Bohemia: The Cats Estate in Los Gatos" noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday beginning Saturday, Oct. 19. The exhibit's opening reception is at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at the museum, with the film screening of C.E.S. Wood. following at 5:30 p.m. at the former Los Gatos Library, 110 E. Main St. The film is an Oregon Public Broadcasting documentary produced by Oregon filmmakers John deGraaf and Laurence Cotton. Details: 408-395-7375
