Week Ahead: Turkey Trot, Los Gatos Holiday Carriage Rides, Fantasy of Lights

SILICON VALLEY TURKEY TROT

The ninth annual Silicon Valley Turkey Trot, founded and produced by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation, returns this year at 7:45 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28 at the corner of Santa Clara and Market streets in downtown San Jose. Sponsored by Applied Materials, the race includes a 5K walk and run,10K run and a kids' fun run for the general public and benefits Housing Trust Silicon Valley, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara, San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties and the Healthier Kids Foundation Santa Clara County. 2013 LOS GATOS HOLIDAY HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGE RIDES

The Los Gatos Holiday Carriage Rides begin at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29 at the southwest corner of Town Plaza Park, corner of West Main Street and Santa Cruz Avenue, in downtown Los Gatos. Group package is $100, six seats available, four adults maximum; sweetheart carriage is $85, a private, romantic ride for two adults only; individual tickets are $25 for ages 11 and up, $10 for ages 3 to 10 and free to toddlers (under 3 years old) on lap. FANTASY OF LIGHTS DRIVE-THRU HOLIDAY LIGHTS SHOW

The Santa Clara County Department of Parks and Recreation presents the 15th annual Fantasy of Lights Drive-thru Holiday Lights show at Vasona Lake Park, 333 Blossom Hill Rd., in Los Gatos, at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29 through Monday, Dec. 31, 2013. Details:  408-355-2201, or visit: www.parkhere.org

ART IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS NEW EXHIBIT

The Town of Los Gatos and the Museums of Los Gatos have partnered on a new exhibit showcasing renowned Bay Area artists' works of part of the Art in the Council Chambers program Nov. 1 through Jan. 30, 2014. The program, which has been going on for 13 years, normally presents four exhibits in the chambers, 110 E. Main St., with an evening artist reception being held for each show. The first exhibit features more than 50 artists currently appearing in the Los Gatos Museums Gallery. Details: 408-354-6834.

LOS GATOS ART ASSOCIATION JURIED SHOW AT JCC

The Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center, 14855 Oka Rd., hosts the Los Gatos Art Association annual Members Juried Show through Nov. 29 on the second floor of the center's Art Gallery Hall. Details: webmaster@lgaa.org.

BACKWARD IS FORWARD EXHIBIT AT LOS GATOS ART MUSEUM

The Museums of Los Gatos presents Backward is Forward: Layer and Impact in Printmaking exhibit through Jan. 12, 2014 at the Art Museum of Los Gatos, 4 Tait Ave. The show features prints by Enrique Chagoya, Hung Liu, Sam Francis, David Gilhooly, Gregory Edwards, Michael Mazur, Frank Lobdell, Andrew Romanoff, Inez Storer, Nathan Oliveira, Erik Bakke, Joan Miro, Marguerite Saegesser, Ruth Wall, Kathy Aoki, Vicky M. Chen, Tom Killion, Jessica Dunne, and Robin McCloskey. Artists have been using printmaking processes for centuries to create thought-provoking works of art, however the details of the medium are often a mystery to viewers. Details: 408-395-7386,

'AMERICAN BOHEMIA: THE CATS ESTATE IN LOS GATOS' EXHIBIT AT HISTORY MUSEUM
