Reader's Photo: $20K Raised During Bahram Saghari's Fundraiser

Thanks to Los Gatos Patch reader Carol Musser for sending in this photo of the fundraiser organized by Los Gatos Lions Club member Tim DuClos and auctioneer John Lochner.

The July 25 benefit fundraiser for Los Gatos bicyclist Bahram Saghari, who was critically injured May 25 at the intersection of Wheeler Avenue, raised more than $20,000 to help pay for his medical expenses.

The event was held at Campo di Bocce of Los Gatos and was attended by about 175 guests who enjoyed an evening of bocce ball and a live and silent auction.

Pictured in this photo, taken by Los Gatos Patch reader Carol Musser are Lions John Lochner and Tim Duclos.

DuClos is a friend and neighbor of  Saghari. He spearheaded the event and got the community involved by notifying the news media about the need to help the family raise funds to pay for the Santa Clara University lecturer's long-term rehabilitation expenses, which won't be covered by his health insurance.

Lochner was the auctioneer who helped generate significant donations at the live auction, according to Musser.

Saghari is married to wife Taban and they have two daughters, Shayan, a recent architecture school graduate who came home from teaching English in Spain to help her family through the tragedy; and Keon, a dance major at Lines Ballet BFA program in San Francisco.

Anyone interested in making a donation toward the Saghari fundraising campaign please contact DeClos at 408-497-9052 or email him at luckydude@comcast.net.
