Patch Watch: Graffiti on Highway 17

Our weekly look at blight and other problem zones in and around Los Gatos.

A Los Gatos Patch reader emailed us last week to tell that graffiti vandals had defaced the stone wall next to Highway 17 on Lark Avenue in Los Gatos.

The graffiti markings are found as one travels southbound on the highway and on the west side of the wall.

The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno already knows about it and its graffiti busters are in the process of cleaning it up, the reader said.

LOCATION: West stone wall next to Highway 17 on Lark Avenue in Los Gatos.

PROBLEM: Graffiti has been spray-painted on the wall.

RESPONSIBLE PARTY: Los Gatos Parks and Public Works Department, (408) 399-5770, or email department director Todd Capurso at tcapurso@losgatosca.gov.

Why take the time to spray paint something that no one can actually read? Not advocating it, just don't get the whole, "Check it! Everybody will see that and no one will read it. Bam!"

I've said it once & I'll say it again. This is never going to stop. So something needs to be invented where it can't be written on, sprayed, etc. That would FIX IT!

Several years ago I read about a paint that had been invented that would repel spray paint. Wonder if the paint was too expensive for the cities to use on the sound walls?
