Los Gatos Youth Citizens of the Year Recognized

Four local teens are honored for making significant contributions to the community.

Four Los Gatos youth were honored the morning of Sept. 28 at Los Gatos High School with the Youth Citizen of the Year Award given by the Los Gatos Youth Park Inc. organization.

The honorees are Jack Belshe, Cole Hammers, Ashlee Kupor and Matthew Smith.

The nonprofit has been around for more than 25 years and its mission is to support town youth with recognition and promote local scouting programs.

Phil Knopf serves as its president and its board members are all volunteers.

The award recognizes youth who have made significant contributions to the community and are considered role models for other young people.

In attendance was Los Gatos Vice Mayor Steven Leonardis, Santa Clara County Supervisor Mike Wasserman and Los Gatos Lions Club past president Mary Ellen Graham.

Los Gatos Patch will be spotlighting each of the winners with a Whiz Kid of the Week Award in the coming weeks.
