Los Gatos Lions Raise Nearly $7K From White Cane Days Fundraiser

Service Club is now working on promoting Nov. 9 blood drive and Dec. 3 Children's Christmas/Holidays Parade.

The Los Gatos Lions Club annual financial collection for its White Cane Days fundraiser Oct. 7-8 raised nearly $7,000 for sight-related services, members announced Wednesday during the organization's meeting at the Los Gatos Lodge.

The Lions also collected glasses to distribute to those in need and all proceeds will go directly to services for sight such as the Santa Clara Valley Blind Center.

Lions were at Safeway at Union and Los Gatos Almaden Road, Safeway at Santa Cruz Avenue, Nob Hill Grocery at Los Gatos Almaden Road and Los Gatos Boulevard, Lunardi's in King's Court and Los Gatos Main Post Office to collect donations and used eye glasses.

The club is now busy promoting another big event this year and that's its blood drive scheduled for 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Los Gatos Lodge in the DeAnza Room. To make an appointment click here.

Blood donors must be 17 years of age, weigh at least 100 pounds, be free of cold and flu symptoms and must eat and drink plenty of fluids before donating. Those participating must also show a photo ID.

The Lions are also co-sponsors of the upcoming the 55th Dec. 3 Children's Christmas/Holidays Parade. The event is a great family celebration that captures the warmth of the holiday season each year with festive entries, musical wonders and plenty of cheer.
