Dirty Los Gatos Creek Cleaned
Friends of Los Gatos Creek collected enough trash from the waterway on Saturday, Jan. 11 to fill three trailers.
The Friends of Los Gatos Creek group, formed last summer, are continuing their efforts to rid the waterway of trash with the latest clean-up on Saturday, Jan. 11 collecting three trailers full of debris.
Friends of Los Gatos Creek head organizer and founder Steve Holmes said 13 volunteers worked on the west bank of the creek between Creekside Avenue and Highway 880.
The cleanup posed access challenges with a steep creek bank and dirt road access, according to Holmes.
"We restored the area to a natural setting," Holmes said. "This section has seen the return of a beaver family ... The reports back from the volunteers was that it was a busy day but rewarding. Thanks to everyone who helped. This effort is making a difference."
