Mountain-Biking Summer Camp Comes to Los Gatos

Need something for your kids to do this summer? Bike Dojo will get them mountain biking!

After three successful years taking children mountain biking during the summer and after school in Santa Cruz, Bike Dojo, founders of Kids Dojo, brings its premiere mountain-biking program for kids to Los Gatos.

Kids Dojo started as a sister program to Bike Dojo and soon became one of the most popular outdoor summer activities in Santa Cruz -- and the only mountain bike program of its kind.

Each day, the campers, ages 7-14, ride different trails and hone their riding skills.

All skill levels are welcome and Bike Dojo says everyone improves both their cycling ability and their self-confidence in an environment that is safe, fun and has great riding.

Your child will not only go to bed early, but also sleep well at night, say camp organizers.

Los Gatos campers will meet each day at Mikes Bikes on North Santa Cruz Avenue, and spend the day exploring different trails and terrain.

“Our goal is to give each child an experience to remember,” says co-owner Paul Howell.  “This year we are thrilled to be working with Mike’s Bikes and having them as our meeting spot in the morning and our pick-up spot in the evening.”

Mountain biking summer camps will run eight weeks starting mid-June through mid-August.

“We have kids who come for multiple weeks because they love it.  Parents feel good that their kids are getting exercise, learning some skills and being part of a group with common interests,” says Howell.

The Bike Dojo also plans on expanding their after-school programs to Los Gatos.

The programs will start in the fall and their plan is to work with specific schools and pick up kids directly at the school to save parents from after school hassles.
