Wildcats Renew Rivalry With Longhorns

This Friday night at 7 p.m. at Helm Field, home of the Wildcats, Los Gatos renews its old rivalry with the Leigh High School Longhorns.

Both teams qualified for the CCS playoffs and both wound up in division II.

It should be good high school football with a backyard flavor as two town teams —who know each other quite well—open up the first round of playoffs.

The Cats are looking forward to playing against their neighbors. Leigh has a very explosive offense, utilizing a spread attack with a very talented quarterback and some speedy receivers.

Los Gatos will counter with their running game and hope to continue to improve their passing game following last week's strong showing against the Homestead Mustangs, winning the match by a 17-13 score.

A strong Cats' defense hopes to contain Leigh's quarterback and stop the Longhorns' bid for an upset.

The last time these two teams met in a playoff game, Los Gatos held off Leigh at Foothill College in a semifinal game by a score of 20-13.

The game time starts right at 7 p.m. as there is no frosh/soph game beforehand.

Hope you can come out and support the boys in their effort to work toward a win, the promise of a Thanksgiving weekend home game at Helm Field against either Aragon or Sobrato high school football teams, and a first step toward a possible CCS title.
