GIRLS BASKETBALL: Westmont Defeats Los Gatos in CCS Quarters

Warriors move onto semifinals behind big game from Scott.

The Westmont High girls basketball team just keeps on winning.

Just over a week removed from winning the inaugural Blossom Valley Athletic League postseason tournament—Westmont nipped Gunderson High by two points in the finals on Friday, Feb. 18—Westmont added another accolade its growing list of honors in the 2010-11 campaign: Central Coast Section Girls Basketball Division II semifinalist.

Westmont stormed past Los Gatos High 54-34 Saturday afternoon at Oak Grove High in San Jose.

Los Gatos, the No. 4 seed, couldn’t slow down the potent Westmont back court, led by freshman Savannah Scott.

Scott led all scorers with 16 points.

Los Gatos senior center Dana Webster scored 11 points in her final game for the ‘Cats.

The Wildcats led by nine after one quarter of play and by three points at the half.

Westmont charged back to take the lead in the second half, holding its opponent to only 11 points in the game’s final two quarters.

The Warriors will square off against No. 1 seed Presentation High-San Jose on Tuesday night at Oak Grove High. Tip time is set for 7:30 pm.

Starters Webster, Taylor Comeau and Jodie Lee all played in their final game for Los Gatos on Saturday.
