, 12, a soon-to-be seventh-grader at Union Middle School in San Jose, had his poster chosen to represent and welcome the Olympic athletes during the Olympic Trials being held Thursday through Sunday, June 28- July 1.
According to proud mom Yvette Marchand, Evan and another youth were invited to attend the Opening Ceremonies and have received tickets to attend the events.
Evan thought a lot about how to show the path from San Jose to the 2012 London Olympics before he drew his poster, said Marchand.
He wanted to depict the athletes' hard work and how the Olympics brings countries together, she said.
Evan looked at the HP Pavilion where the the Trials are being held and then began drawing a building that represents San Jose, added Marchand.
He also wanted to draw a monument that represents London and he chose Big Ben as his inspiration. He had his sister as a model for the athlete as she is a competitive Level 9 gymnast with Airborne Gymnastics.
He took days to think about and create his winning poster, Marchand said.
