What to Expect From Tonight’s School Board Meeting

Los Gatos Union School District Board of Trustees to consider broadcasting future meetings.

The Board of Trustees will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 8 at the R. J. Fisher Middle School cafeteria, 19195 Fisher Ave.

The meeting will cover items which were on the May 1 agenda, but were not discussed due to the large number of public comments provided by parents and teachers according to Superintendent Diana Abbati.

  • The Financial Advisory Committee bylaws' second draft will be presented to trustees for discussion and comments. A final draft and resolution will be presented at May 15 board meeting.
  • Abbati will present two drafts of proposed board meeting schedules for the 2012-13 school year. A final draft will be presented at May 15 board meeting.
  • LGUSD Director of Technology, Assessment and Accountability Maggi Reser and LGUSD technician John Keating will present options for
  • A letter from the Santa Clara County Office of Education stating that the agency concurs with LGUSD’s positive certification related to its financial obligations for the current year and two subsequent fiscal years. 
  • A letter from Alliance of Schools for Cooperative Insurance Programs awarding a grant to LGUSD in the amount of $3,136.84 and reimbursement of emergency training programs in the amount of $1,000.
  • The LGUSD governance and planning calendar will be provided to the board for discussion and planning.  

After the regular board meeting, at 6:30 p.m., the board will convene a workshop focusing on information about charter schools. This agenda item will be presented by Janet Mueller, the district's attorney and is for informational purposes only. Abbati will oversee a question-and-answer session about charter schools after the presentation.
