Shea Shaw Attends LGHS Graduation

Hit-and-run victim watches her friends complete important milestone during Friday afternoon ceremony.

She may not have graduated this year, but that didn't stop Campbell's Shea Shaw from attending the Los Gatos High School graduation ceremony Friday, June 7.

Her mother Cari Shaw said, "There was no way we would miss seeing Shea's  lifelong friends graduate. For us it's bitter sweet but we had to be here. When I asked, Shea told me she wanted to come by blinking. Shea also told me she wanted a blue dress. So here we are."

In January of 2011 Shea was hit while walking across a street by an SUV driver leaving her disabled and unable to return to school after suffering a severe brain injury.

In the attached photo, Shea is surrounded by her friends Brandi Leha, Ruby Wagner, Jake Mahoney, Teo (no last name given) and Max Cunningham.

"I just wish every parent with a child who graduated that day would make a donation to SheasHope.org to help the beautiful girl who could not graduate because she was mowed down by a car," said family spokeswoman Ellen Pifer.

Shea's Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to getting Shea much needed therapy and helping others suffering from brain injury, will be launching a new website shortly.

A fundraiser is planned for Sept. 21 at a private residence in Almaden Valley.
