Photos: Family Math Night at Van Meter Elementary

Parents and students come together to play with numbers Thursday evening.

The Gifted and Talented Education, or GATE program and the presented Thursday evening a fun family math night in the multi-purpose room.

The event gave parents and students from Daves Avenue, Lexington, Blossom Hill and Van Meter elementary schools the opportunity to work together and interact in a mathematically enriching environment.

Parents learned how to deepen their children’s mathematical reasoning and how to make math fun. Children enjoyed hands-on activities, challenging games and puzzles.

The event was also held the evening Jan. 12 at Daves Avenue Elementary School.

The district's GATE program is funded by a $5,000 grant from the LGEF.
