New Los Gatos School Trustee Appointed For Loma Prieta District

Deana A. Arnold will serve remainder of former trustee Mario Montana's 11-month term.

The Loma Prieta Joint Union School District, 23800 Summit Rd., has announced it's appointed Deana A. Arnold to fill the position left vacant by the resignation of Mario Montana from the Board of Trustees.

Arnold will take the oath of office at the district's Jan. 15 board meeting.

On Jan. 7, trustees interviewed candidates to replace Montana, who filed his resignation effective Nov. 10, 2013 citing expanding work commitments.

Unless a petition for a special election, pursuant to Education Code 5091, is filed with the Santa Clara County Office of Education within 30 days of the provisional appointment, Arnold's selection will become effective, the district said.

Arnold will serve her 11-month appointment until the next regularly scheduled governing board election in November of 2014.

The district, located in the Los Gatos Mountains, educates approximately 360 K-8 students in Loma Prieta Elementary School (K-5), and C.T. English Middle School.
