Editor's Note: Los Gatos Patch began publishing candidate statements Friday, Sept. 28 for all the local races affecting town residents. This is the statement voters will see on the ballot Nov. 6 for Saratoga resident Katherine Tseng, who's hoping for one of two seats up for grabs due to trustees Lorrie Wernick and Rosemary Rossi being up for re-election this fall.
I am running for the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District Board of Education because I believe education is the best investment for our society and with my experiences, knowledge and community involvement, I can be a contributing member of an effective and efficient board.
I am an actuary with extensive training and experiences in financial analysis and risk management. My 13 years school involvement include: President of Argonaut elementary PTA, Redwood Middle School Site Council; Co-President of Saratoga Education Foundation, Redwood Middle PTA, Saratoga Music Booster and Saratoga High PTSO. Currently as Co-President of Saratoga High School Foundation and Vice President of Saratoga High Sports Booster.
My son is a junior at Saratoga High School and I will bring a first-hand parent perspective as the only board member with child in our school district if elected.
My goals as a school board member are as follows: (1) Excellent educational programs for all students; (2) Well-rounded and ethical students with global perspectives; (3) Fiscal responsibility, transparency, collaboration and community engagement of district operations.
I have been endorsed by LGSUHSD trustees Cynthia Chang, Doug Ramezane and Michele Van Zuiden.
