Los Gatos Rotary Club Gives $29K in Scholarships

A total of 22 students from Los Gatos, Leigh and Independence high schools receive their financial awards May 7.

The Los Gatos Rotary Club has given 22 Los Gatos, Leigh and Independence high school students scholarships totaling $29,650.

The students received their scholastic awards at the May 7 club lunch meeting at the Los Gatos Lodge.

The recipients are the following:

LOS GATOS HIGH, $16,550

LEIGH HIGH SCHOOL, $6,550

INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL, $6,550

“Our goal is to make a difference in our community for years to come and to provide tangible evidence that our club really cares about Los Gatos especially our youth and their future,” said Afternoon Los Gatos Rotary Club President Paul Christensen in a press release.

“We want future generations to see the value of community service and inspire others to follow in the process of making our town a great place to live,” he added.

The Los Gatos Rotary Club, founded in 1924, established its scholarship fund in 1998. During the past 15 years, the fund has consistently provided substantial awards to our local scholars, the club said in the release.
