For his Eagle Leadership Service Project, Parker approached InnVision the Way Home to see if it had a need he could fulfill, according to proud mom Ann Beverly.

The organization, the leading provider of housing and services for the homeless in Silicon Valley, needed to build a barrier at one of its shelters so basketballs would stop going over the fence into the neighbor’s bus yard.

Parker took on this challenge, which included raising the funds for the materials, drawing up the plans and organizing his troop to provide the labor, mom explained.

After months of preparation, two days in July were spent digging, drilling, making concrete, and assembling the backstop. “It is very satisfying to know that I was able to help others,” Parker said.

Parker is an avid outdoorsman, mom said. He has gone on numerous backpacking trips in the Sierras. He spends as much time as possible snowboarding and in the summers he is at the beach.

Parker is now preparing for a new challenge—college. He plans to major in construction management and has been accepted to California and out of state colleges.
