Los Gatos High School Has 'Caring School Climate'

Project Cornerstone to recognize campus during annual Asset Champions Breakfast March 23 at Fairmont Hotel in San Jose.

has been recognized this year by Project Cornerstone for having an improved “Caring School Climate,” one of the identified 41
“developmental assets” that support the positive social‐emotional development of students, officials announced recently in a press release.

Developmental assets are the positive relationships, opportunities, values, and skills that provide the foundation for a healthy, successful future, district officials said.

In general, the more developmental assets that young people possess, the more likely they are to avoid risky behaviors and engage in positive, healthy activities.

Los Gatos High School Principal Markus Autrey recognized his staff for their dedication and vision, specifically noting the commitment and leadership of Shelby Edwards (athletics), Stephanie Pearson (activities), Amy Gutierrez (guidance), Chris Marra (music), Bret Schmidt (special education), and Assistant Principals Kristi Grasty, Valerie Arbizu and Rob Bobeda.

Los Gatos High School will be recognized at the annual Asset Champions Breakfast, being held at 7 a.m., March 23 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose.

I am not surprised that LGHS will be honored for having an improved “Caring School Climate” as they have an excellent leader and principal, Markus Autrey and many fine and caring teachers to help set an example for the students. As a result of the environment advanced my Autrey and the teachers, my son, who graduated in June 2011 had a wonderful experience at LGHS.
