Los Gatos High Presents 'Spelling Bee'

Los Gatos High School thespians get ready to hit the stage next week.

A cast of about 30 young performers has been busy rehearsing at the theatre to present next Thursday, March 8 its spring musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

The Tony Award-winning production is put on by the high school's Performing Arts Department and it's the first time it's tackled this particular musical.

Last year, the high school presented thefor its spring program.

The cast is led by director Heather Stokes. The musical will transport audiences to a fictional spelling bee set in fictional Putnam Valley Middle School.

Its plot centers on the unlikeliest of heroes—a quirky yet charming cast of six adolescent outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.

Performances are scheduled at LGHS Prentiss Brown Auditorium, 20 High School Court, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 8-10; and 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 15-17.

The preview performance on March 8, however, is sold out and tickets were distributed to an exclusive list of attendees.

Tickets range in price between $7 and $13. To purchase tickets, please click here. Details: 408-358-4247. Box office opens one hour before performances.
