Young Genius Speech/Debate academy specializes in coaching middle and high school students for Speech/Debate tournaments. This summer for 5 days, August 20th to 24th, 3 hours a day from 10am to 1:00 pm or from 2pm to 5pm Young Genius is offering a camp specifically designed to prepare 6-9 graders to compete in Lincoln/Douglas fall debate. The intent of this camp is to prepare High School students for the first invitational and/or league tournaments of the 2012/13 school year. The classes structure will consist of lectures structured around the announced topic as well as engaging the students in original research. If you think that maybe my child cannot handle this class, don't fret our instructors are highly skills individuals who will adjust their level of instruction to fit according to each student's level. Young Genius can accommodate any student, from a novice to a 4th year Senior!
Why this camp?
1. The Fall Lincoln/Douglas topic will be announced in August. Thus, our coaches can work with the students on the actual topic.
2. Don Heinsohn, our program coordinator, has 27 years coaching experience in High School LD debate and has coached several students to victory at many invitationals, including a CA State Champion. Also, Mr. Heinsohn actually writes the topics/questions that are featured in many debate competitions around the Bay Area.
3. We are the only Speech/Debate program in the Bay Area which is allowed to bring middle school students to High School Tournaments.
4. The price of this program is quite a bargain compared to other debate programs throughout the Bay Area.
September 15th is the first tournament which Young Genius Speech/Debate Academy of middle and high school students will participate in is a High School Tournament at Saint Frances.
