Popular Author and Train Historian Bruce MacGregor will explore the reasons behind, and methods involved in, the consruction of the South Pacific Coast Railroad over the Santa Cruz Mountains in 1880. Costly in terms of both dollars and human life, this project was driven by the enormous economic potential on both sides of teh Santa Cruz Range.  MacGregor has authored over five books including The Birth of Narrow Gauge.
