Daves Avenue Elementary School Has New Principal

Los Gatos Union School District Superintendent Diana Abbati announces the appointment of Wlliam 'Kit' Bragg as Monte Sereno school's new leader.

Educator William "Kit" Bragg has been appointed as the new principal of for the 2012-13 school year, Superintendent Diana Abbati announced last week in a letter to parents, teachers, staff and community members.

Bragg comes to Los Gatos from the Cupertino Union School District where he serves as assistant principal at Kennedy Middle School.

Having served children as an educator for the past 12 years in CUSD, he's prepared students for reflective thinking and lifelong learning, Abbati said.

The new principal, who assumes his duties Aug. 1, succeeds current Principal Susan von Felten, who was appointed in March as part-time principal of Lexington Elementary School and director of curriculum and instruction for the district effective July 1, 2012.

According to Abbati, one of Bragg's co-workers at CUSD, had this to say about him: "Kit is a visionary person, and is able to view situations and problems from multiple perspectives. He is committed to creating a learning environment that is reflective of 21st century learning skills and is a man of integrity who consistently demonstrates the qualities of fairness, cooperation, compassion, and diligence."

Bragg holds two masters degrees from Santa Clara University in administration and in interdisciplinary education with an emphasis on literacy. He also earned a bachelor's degree in political science from California Polytechnic State University.

He has gone through numerous trainings including the Apple Professional Development-Challenge Based Learning, Assessment for Student Learning and Thinking Strategies Institute, Abbati said in her letter.
