Who Will Run For Los Gatos School Board?

Candidate statements must be turned in to Santa Clara County Registrar of Voter's Office by June 8.

In preparation for the upcoming Nov. 6, 2012 election, trustees are getting ready to provide the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters Office with documentation about the upcoming referendum.

Two of their trustees—Doug Halbert and Chris Miller—will be up for election since they're finishing their four-year terms after being voted into office in 2008.

Miller will be ending his second four-year term. Halbert will be finishing his first term.

On Tuesday, Miller said in an email he had not yet decided whether he would seek a third term, especially since there are several months before the filing deadline of Aug. 10.

Halbert said his term ends in December 2012 and he has not decided whether to run again at this point. "It has been an honor to serve on the LGUSD Board of Trustees and work to lead and support the ongoing pursuit of educational excellence in Los Gatos/Monte Sereno," he said.

Anyone who is a district resident over the age of 18 and a registered voter is eligible to run.

Similarly, the is getting ready to ask candidates to submit their election statements, which must be turned in to the Registrar's Office by June 8, 2012.

In the high school district, trustees Rosemary Rossi and Lorrie Wernick are up for election. They, too, were elected into office in November of 2008 and their terms expire this year.

The candidate filing period begins July 16 and ends Aug. 10. Candidate packets will be available for distribution at both district offices or at the Registrar of Voters Office in Santa Clara beginning July 9.

In the trustees Paula Lacey, Rachelle Lopp and Shannon Hickok are also finishing their four-year terms this November.

And in the, trustees Steve Cox and Theresa Bond are up for re-election.

The West Valley/Mission Community College District will also have trustees up for election. They are trustee Chris Stampolis, Board President Robert Owens and trustee Adrienne Grey.
