Los Gatos Voters Split on State Props, Support Measure A Sales Tax

Town votes almost evenly in favor and against state propositions, but supports county sales tax and water district parcel tax measures.

Los Gatos residents voted similar to the rest of Silicon Valley voters who approved Gov. Jerry Brown's Proposition 30 to raise money for schools.

Percentage-wise, more voted for President Barack Obama than Mitt Romney in Tuesday's General Election.

They also rejected Proposition 31, the state budget measure like the rest of the cities in the Santa Clara County.

Silicon Valley cities were split on Prop 37, the measure to label genetically-altered food. Los Gatos said no.

And Los Gatos supported Measure A, the county sales tax.

What follows are numbers crunched from the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voter's website for six Silicon Valley cities from Tuesday night's election.

The percentages indicate the number of registered voters who cast their ballots for each unique race or measure. As an example, of the 24,499 registered voters in Los Gatos, 38 percent cast their ballot for Obama, 12 percent for Romney.
