Parks Department Asks Public to Vote For Favorite Park

Voting will help win Coca-Cola 'America Is Your Park' campaign.

The California Department of Parks and Recreation is asking park-goers to get out and vote—for their favorite parks.

The parks that receive the most votes will receive grants as part of Coca-Cola's "America Is Your Park" national campaign, department officials said.

Participants can vote for national, state, or local parks, with first place receiving $100,000; second place receiving $50,000; and third place receiving $25,000.

Participants can vote online at www.livepositively.com by selecting a park from an interactive map, by uploading photos to the site, or by "checking-in" to a park on Facebook.

One point is given for online votes while five points are given for uploading photos or checking-in on Facebook as an incentive to get out and visit parks, organizers said.

Voting will continue through Sept. 6. Last year's $100,000 winner was Bear Head Lake State Park in Minnesota.
