Mosquito Fogging Set For Tuesday & Thursday In Los Gatos, Campbell, San José

News from the Santa Clara County Vector Control District:

TUESDAY, JUNE 17 - Fogging Zone 4-Fogging to Suppress West Nile Virus Mosquitoes in Areas of San José and Campbell

The SCCVCD confirmed on June 12 that adult mosquitoes collected from the 95008, 95124, and 95125 ZIP code areas of the cities of San José and Campbell tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV).

The detection of mosquitoes infected with WNV has prompted the scheduling of a mosquito fogging treatment in the surrounding area, in an effort to prevent human cases of WNV.

Weather permitting; the ground fogging is scheduled for Tuesday, June 17 at 11 p.m., and is planned to last for several hours.

The fogging area is generally bordered Willow St. and Minnesota Ave. on the north; S. Bascom Ave. and New Jersey Ave. on the west; Foxworthy Ave. and Husted Ave. on the south; and Newport Ave., Lincoln Ave., and Cottle Ave.

Information packets were to be distributed in the fogging area beginning Saturday, notifying residents about the fogging operation.

And today and Tuesday, staff from the Vector Control District and the Public Health Department will be available during extended hours from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. via a dedicated phone line/voicemail (800-314-2427) to answer questions and provide information.

Post-fogging mosquito samples will be set on Wednesday, and collected on Thursday, June 19. If virus is found in the post-treatment samples, additional fogging may be required. If no virus is found, further fogging will not be needed.

Contact the Vector Control District if you are being bothered by mosquitoes or know of a potential mosquito-breeding source by calling (408) 918-4770 or requesting a service here.
