Monte Sereno City Council Candidate Statement: Walter Huff

Businessman is one of three total candidates for this race, which includes incumbent Mayor Susan Garner and newcomer Julie Wiltshire.

Editor's Note: Los Gatos Patch will be publishing candidate statements for all the local races affecting area residents. This is the statement voters will see on the ballot Nov. 6 for businessman Walter Huff, who's hoping to be elected to the Monte Sereno City Council, where there are two seats up for grabs. The other two candidates in this election are incumbent Monte Sereno Mayor Susan Garner and newcomer Julie Wiltshire.

My wife, Anne Munemitsu, and I have raised our children here in Monte Sereno, the city in which Anne herself was raised.

I want to strengthen our sense of community and will work to improve the city's relationship with its residents. I will vigorously oppose any self-serving action by a City Council member.

Serving on the Site and Architecture Commission, I now have a hands-on understanding of how our municipal government functions and would be honored to apply this experience to serving on our City Council. My Site & Architecture Commission experience has also focused my attention on the current land-use issues facing our city.

I value the country-like, non-commercial character of Monte Sereno and pledge to preserve the historical, quiet lifestyle that has been the hallmark of Monte Sereno for more than 50 years.
