All You Need to Know About The Los Gatos Street Resurfacing Project

Slurry seal application will take place on the evenings of Aug. 12 and Aug. 13. Residents and visitors to the town should expect delays.

This notice is to provide property owners and merchants along and adjacent to W. Main Street (Highway 17 bridge to Bayview Avenue), Santa Cruz Avenue (Main Street to Highway 9), and University Avenue (Main Street to Highway 9) with general information concerning the upcoming street resurfacing project.

The above referenced streets are scheduled to receive a new slurry seal and re-striping as part of town’s annual Street Resurfacing Program.

The first phase of this project will be to perform pavement patching and crack sealing of the streets which will be performed during the day between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will not require any street closure.

The final phase of this project that will place a slurry seal on the streets will be performed at night. It is necessary to perform the slurry seal portion of the job at night to minimize construction and traffic impacts to the public and expedite the completion of the work.

The slurry seal application on W. Main Street (Highway 17 Bridge to Bayview Avenue) & University Avenue (Main Street to Highway 9) took place Monday night Aug. 12. The slurry seal application on Santa Cruz Avenue (Main Street to Highway 9) will take place on Tuesday night Aug. 13.

The above referenced streets will be completely closed to all vehicular traffic from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

All sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians and parking will remain open on all side streets. Informational electronic message boards to inform the public will be posted at strategic locations around downtown in advance of the work.

“No Parking” signs will be posted 72 hours prior to the actual days of work. The signs will indicate the date and times during which parking is prohibited.

When the work has been completed in each area, the parking limitation will end and all signs will be removed. There will be flagmen and other workers directing traffic to ensure the safe passage of all citizens and for the safety of our workers. Expect some delays, and choose alternate routes, if possible. Emergency vehicle access will be accommodated at all times.

The town construction team is taking all appropriate steps to create the least amount of disturbance to the surrounding areas while performing this important street rehabilitation project.

The project contractor; Intermountain Slurry Seal Inc. will employ the best available practices to minimize inconveniences to our neighbors without compromising work site safety or quality of work.
