Los Gatos May Break Single-Day Rain Record for June

National Weather Service says precipitation amount is extraordinary for June.

Los Gatos may break a single-day June rain record today, Saturday, due to the extraordinary amount of precipitation it's receiving, according to the National Weather Service.

Los Gatos has seen .43 inches of rain during the past 24 hours, which could be a record high for June 4, according to National Weather Service forecaster Bob Benjamin.

"It's a little under half an inch ... It's extraordinary for a single day in June," Benjamin said.

The National Weather Service is expecting the steady rain to continue throughout the Bay Area through this afternoon, becoming partly cloudy with showers throughout the rest of the weekend.

By Monday afternoon, the clouds should dissipate, Benjamin said.
