The Los Gatos Morning Rotary "Cool Cats" are so excited to be attending the grand opening on Saturday. We helped to support the student "quiet room" with the Rotary Club of Los Gatos. I know we will all be proud to know we have helped to contribute to provide this for the town and especially for our young people.

This looks spectacular! WOW! I remember my Mami would take my Brother's children, Collette & Nicholas Garza to the Library every weekend! But it never looked like this! Wonderful!

O.M.G. it is estimated to have 332,000 visits and the town allowed for only one additional parking space in town center to accommodate for this. Even if you cut the number in half to account for the visits of the old library, thats over 100,000 more visits a year. This short sightedness of our town planners and council has been evident for over 10 years now, with similar chenanigans elsewhere in town.

Forget the Mall, I'm going to the Library. Good luck trying to get me to leave! This place looks amazing! It was worth the wait. Kudos to the planners and the builder for the execution.

I can't wait to tour the new library and browse the expanded collections. Los Gatos has been waiting for an upgrade for some time, something that stands up to the 21st century, but what I've seen from previews exceeds expectations. The space is innovative, exciting, and state of the art while still preserving the Town's legacy, a fitting bridge from the past to our future. I love how full of light it is. Save me a seat at the window!

Hi Larry, according to the latest circulation numbers, Los Gatos Library had 267,672 visitors in 2010, a 34 percent increase from 2009. Somehow, all these people found a place to park. This averages to between 600-800 daily visits. With the new library, more patrons are expected, but town officials say they're confident they'll find places to park. During Music in the Park, which brings about 3K people to the downtown for the concerts, I was surprised they, too, found parking. I'm not saying parking is not challenging at times in the downtown, but so far I've always managed to find a spot for car. Thanks for the comment.

Yes, we baby boomers really enjoy our local libraries, and they are such a great resource for any type of research too.
Larry Arzie February 10, 2012 at 10:17 PM
Thanks for the stats Sheila, I stand corrected at 65 thousand more visits to the Library a year instead of 100 thousand. So that would be 65K more people trying to get that one parking space that was added at the town center to accommodate visitors. Or as you put it be like music in the Park followers and walk 6 blocks after taking up parking spaces that are desperately need to keep retailers in business.

Thank you for the photo comments. I'm sure everyone is excited to do some reading now!
