Los Gatos Jubilee: Share Your Stories With Patch!

What memories do you have of the town we all love to live, work and play in? Los Gatos Patch wants your stories, which we'll publish beginning Aug. 10, 2012, the date of the town's 125th incorporation anniversary.

and to honor the occasion, Los Gatos Patch is joining the Museums of Los Gatos StoryShare project.

What does it consist of? Collecting stories from people who have lived in and around the town for the past 125 years.

Los Gatos Patch will forward those stories to the project, which will help the Museum develop a historical narrative of the community and its residents.

Our publication will also start publishing those stories beginning Aug. 10, 2012, the date of the town's 125th incorporation anniversary. The town was incorporated in 1887.

How To Tell Your Story

Write down or record your story and submit it to Los Gatos Patch either at the end of this piece in the comments, or email it to sheila.sanchez@patch.com.

If you're more comfortable with social media, tell your story on our recently created Facebook page honoring the town's anniversary called Happy 125 Birthday, Los Gatos.

Try to keep your written submission to less than 300 words, or your video or audio recording to less than three minutes.

Be sure to include a date or general time-period, a location, and as many details as you can remember.

Each submission should be related to one specific event, subject, place or object, but you are more than welcome to submit more than one story.

Submitted stories become the property of the Museums, which reserves the right to use the stories in exhibitions and publications; stories will be credited to the submitter(s).

Thank you for participating!

I was born in Mexico, & brought up here in Los Gatos, CA. A lot has changed since I was a kid. But I do acknowledge that it is beautiful here. But I do think it's over rated.
Lots of lovely history however.

Right on Irene.......Many of us came to or stayed in Los Gatos because of its small town atmosphere. The hype that has been promoted in the past 20 years that we are a destination location is definitely overrated. As locals we know how to navigate the town and get the best out of it. For the tire kickers who are solicited to town, a pastiche of what were, they are let down and may never come back........hopefully.

I am a huge defender of free speech and welcome all viewpoints, but Patch seems to be overly biased with what I believe are a minority of anti-growth folks residing in Los Gatos. While I am very sensitive to the "small-town" history , we live in a diverse semi-urban area that is bustling with activity, that is why I moved here with family 7 years ago. I want tourists to visit our town and support our local merchants, without visitors and traffic we could sadly see our downtown go away. We have a high class problem here, we have benefited from the riches of Silicon Valley where expensive homes have been built, the folks who are now here many of us are from big cities and want to have some big city in our "small town".
Beware of wishing for bygone days, because there was a time when non-whites were not allowed to own property or businesses in this town or others along the peninsula, I feel we have come along way but have much more to go to welcome minorities to our town.

Harris back then said the department's records unit need time to research just how many of these sex crimes had been reported to police. I'll check with the district.
