Los Gatos 'Cat Walk' Public Art Project Solicits Proposals

Deadline for artists to submit plans is 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.

The Town of Los Gatos is still soliciting proposals for its "Cat Walk" public art display project in the downtown area, which will consist of gatos sculptures placed along Santa Cruz Avenue trees to celebrate the town's namesake.

One to two artists will be selected to create between 10 and 15 cats, likely to be placed in the nooks of the larger Crepe Myrtle trees along either side of Santa Cruz Avenue between Main Street and Bachman Avenue.

Those interested in submitting a proposal should visit the Arts and Culture Commission page on the www.LosGatosCA.gov website, and click on Call to Artists, to view the RFP and submit their plans.

The RFP is also posted at Art Opportunities Monthly at http://www.artopportunitiesmonthly.com

According to Los Gatos Town Manager Greg Larson the gatos will be similar to the koala sculptures located in San Jose trees, which will serve as a model for the project. Funding for the program will come from grants, private donations and assistance from service clubs.
