Grey, Owens Re-Elected in West Valley Mission Community College Race

Incumbents appeared to have been re-elected to four more years on board of trustees.

Update: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7: Incumbent trustees Adrienne Grey and Robert Owens were re-elected to four more years on the West Valley Mission Community College District based on early election results Tuesday evening.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Grey, 54, received 9,150 votes or 69.61 percent, while her opponent, candidate Ron Bonhagen, earned 3,994 votes or 30.39 percent.

Grey, first elected to the WVMCCD Board of Trustees in November of 2008, represents area 6, which includes portions of Campbell and San Jose.

"I feel really good about the initial results," Grey said, who serves as president of the board. "More results have to come in, but I just want to thank everyone in Campbell and in the Cambrian area for their support and I'm looking forward to serving another four years."

Grey said she enjoys working to support the community college district, which serves about 20,000 students at both West Valley College in Saratoga and Mission College in Santa Clara.

Owens expressed optimism with the outcome of the election. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Owens had received 6,371 votes, or 60.77 percent compared to newcomer Ben Hernandez' 4,112 votes, or 39.23 percent.
