2.3-Magnitude Earthquake Shakes South Bay

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.3 was recorded in the San Jose East Foothills Monday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor was reported at 8:50 p.m. about seven miles northeast San Jose and closer to the Alum Rock, Milpitas and East Foothlls areas, according to the USGS.

The shaker had a depth of 0.4 kilometers or 0.2 miles, according to the USGS.
