Police: Woman Raped in Los Gatos

Sexual assault is said to have taken place between 9:30 p.m. March 2 and 5 a.m. March 3 at the Los Gatos Lodge.

A San Jose woman was raped sometime between 9:30 p.m. March 2 and 5 a.m. March 3 at the 50 Los Gatos-Saratoga Road, police said Monday.

The police report about the rape was found in the Los Gatos Monte Sereno police blotter that's faxed to local media outlets.

The 52-year-old San Jose resident, who's not being named since Patch doesn't identify sexual assault victims, reported the incident to police at 1:19 p.m. March 5, according to the police report.

Los Gatos Monte Sereno police Sgt. spokesman Kerry Harris confirmed that a report of a rape had been submitted at the location and said there's one suspect in the case, who's not being identified yet.

Harris also said the suspect has not been arrested.

Asked how many rapes have been reported in town in the past year, Harris said he would have the department's records unit get the number.

Los Gatos Lodge general manager Cecilio Reyes, who manages the 129-room facility, said he doesn't comment on litigation or police investigations.

He also said he was not aware that the crime had occurred at the Lodge's location.

It's not clear from information given by police whether the rape took place inside or outside the facility.

"Any incident such as a rape is unfortunate. I hope the police do a thorough investigation," Reyes said.
