Updated: Sentencing Postponed For Woman Convicted of Murder in Los Gatos DUI Crash

Stacy Lonnberg flipped her Toyota Tacoma on Highway 85 in Los Gatos in Jan. 14, 2012 expelling her 26-year-old daughter, Tiffiny Gillette, 50 feet from the car. Her husband, Frederic Lonnberg, 67, died after being rushed to an area hospital.

Update: 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11: The sentencing for a woman who killed her daughter and husband in a drunken driving crash on Highway 85 in Los Gatos in January of 2012 was postponed by a Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge this morning until 10 a.m. Nov. 8.

Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Ron Del Pozzo allowed the family of Stacy Lonnberg to address the court this morning. Some chose to address the magistrate during an emotionally charged hearing.

"Stacy is deeply remorseful for causing the deaths of her beloved husband and daughter," said Lonnberg's defense attorney Santa Clara County Deputy Public Defender Javier Rios.

"She wept at today’s hearing. The jail continues to assist her in handling the profound depression she feels. She has come to grips with the fact that she is an alcoholic," Rios said.

"Stacy has used the jail’s resources to learn about her alcoholism. She's making the effort to change her ways."

Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Matt Braker said he's asking the judge to impose the maximum penalty of 30 years to life for the crimes Lonnberg committed.

"Her punishment should equate the fact that she took two lives through her reckless criminal activities," Braker said.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled this Friday morning Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. for a woman who killed her daughter and husband in a drunken driving crash on Highway 85 in Los Gatos in January of 2012.

On July 30, a jury convicted Stacy Lonnberg, 52, of Gilroy, of two counts of second-degree murder and one count of child endangerment in connection with the Jan. 14, 2012 rollover crash.

Lonnberg is expected to appear in Department 40 at the San Jose Hall of Justice, 190 West Hedding St. to have a Santa Clara County Superior Court judge hand down the sentence.

Killed during the crash was her 67-year-old husband Frederic Lonnberg and her 26-year-old daughter, Tiffiny Gillette, who was ejected 50 feet from the car.

Her 1-year-old grandson in the car was not injured.

When the accident occurred, Lonnberg was under the effects of seven to eight drinks of vodka and the pain medication oxycodone, according to the Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Matt Braker.
