'Well Known' Bay Area Car Thieves Arrested In Los Gatos

Couple taken into custody while attempting to steal vehicle at local Hertz car rental location with fraudulent credit card, police say.

A "well known" Bay Area car stealing couple was arrested by Los Gatos/Monte Sereno police the afternoon of Sept. 20 caught while committing the criminal act at the Hertz rent-a-car location at 15525 Los Gatos Blvd.

According to police Sgt. spokesman Stephen Walpole, the couple—Mieka Nicole Sharron Robinson, 31; and Gregory Evans, Jr., 35—were taken into custody at 4:52 p.m. after Hertz alerted the cops when becoming suspicious.

"The suspects were well known around the Bay area for using fraudulent credit cards to reserve vehicles," Sgt. Walpole said.

The couple asked for two full-sized vehicles and they were found in a stolen 2012 Dodge Journey, according to police.

The couple faces charges of identity theft, stolen vehicle, theft of access card and attempted to steal a vehicle, according to the police report.

It's not known if the couple is still in custody or has posted bail.
