Sheriff's Arrests: Sex Offender Registration Violation

A look at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's arrests and booking reports for Aug. 16-17, 2012. The following arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Protective Order Violation

  • Ingrid San Filipo, 41, of San Martin, Aug. 16, 5:05 a.m., at 155 W. San Martin in San Martin, for misdemeanor violation of protective order.

Possession

  • Sophia Reyes, 46, of Gilroy, Aug. 16, 11:08 a.m., at the San Jose Hall of Justice, 190 W. Hedding St., for felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of hypodermic needle/syringe without prescription and using/being under the influence.
  • Lazaro Barrios, 22, of Gilroy, Aug. 16, 11 a.m., at the South County Courthouse in Morgan Hill, for misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked and felony possession of a controlled substance, driving in willful disregard of safety of persons or property. Bail set at $100,000.
  • Brent Moyle, 20, of Carson City, Aug. 16, 2:10 p.m., at the Santa Clara County Courthouse in Palo Alto, 270 Grant Ave., for possession of marijuana in vehicle and misdemeanor reckless driving.
  • Joseph Naicker, 26, of Fremont, Aug. 17, 4:45 p.m., at 1 Amphitheater Parkway in Mountain View, for felony possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit a felony. Bail set at $10,000.

Sex Offender Registration Violation

  • Mark Gewecke, 38, of El Grove, Aug. 16, 11:05 a.m., at the Santa Clara County Courthouse in Palo Alto, 270 Grant Ave., for felony failure to register as a sex offender.

Petty Theft

  • Tiffany Yang, 19, of Los Altos, Aug. 9, 3:50 p.m., at 20955 Stevens Creek Blvd. in Cupertino, for misdemeanor petty theft of personal property/larceny.
  • Anthony Rossby, 43, Aug. 16, 6:46 p.m., at 20955 Stevens Creek Blvd. in Cupertino, for felony petty theft with specified priors. Bail set at $5,000.

Vehicle Code Violations

  • Jared Kim, 22, of Sunnyvale, Aug. 10, 2:15 a.m. on Highway 9 and Sanborn in Saratoga, for modifying the exhaust system of a motor vehicle, inappropriate display of license plates and misdemeanor reckless driving.
  • Ujwal Battar, 25, of San Jose, Aug. 17, 2 p.m., at the Santa Clara County Courthouse in Palo Alto, 270 Grant Ave., for misdemeanor driving while unlicensed.
  • Juan Araujo, 31, of San Jose, Aug. 8, 6:15 p.m., at Stevens Creek Boulevard and Mariani in Cupertino, for misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked, suspended license and inappropriate use of signal lamp.
  • Milton Kelly, 24, of Oakland, Aug. 6, 9:14 a.m., at Saratoga Avenue and Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road in Saratoga, for misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked and suspended license.
  • Oscar Gonzalez, 26, of San Jose, Aug. 6, 8:45 p.m., at Saratoga and La Paloma in Saratoga, for misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked.
  • Zeljko Marovic, 54, of San Francisco, Aug. 8, 12 noon, at Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and Manor in Saratoga, for misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked and violation of regulation of turns at intersection.

DUI

  • Steven Bryant, 51, of San Jose, Aug. 16, 10:50 p.m., at Montevista and Black roads in Los Gatos, for DUI.
  • Kathryn Shinnick, 51, of Saratoga, Aug. 16, 11:45 p.m., at Thelma Avenue and Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, for DUI.
  • Ramasmy Prabhakar, 43, of Palo Alto, Aug. 17, 11 a.m., at the Santa Clara County Courthouse in Palo Alto, 270 Grant Ave., for DUI and driving with privileges suspended or revoked.
  • Roseann Sladwick, 25, of Mountain View, Aug. 17, 9:45 a.m., at the Santa Clara County Courthouse in Palo Alto, 270 Grant Ave., for DUI.
  • Juan Fuentes, 28, of San Jose, Aug. 17, 2 p.m., at Diane and Butterfield Boulevard in Morgan Hill, for misdemeanor DUI and suspended license. Bail set at $25,000

Domestic Violence

  • Vanessa Liu, 23, of San Jose, Aug. 17, 2:25 p.m., at 18770 Toggle Ave. in Cupertino, for felony inflicting corporal injury on spouse/cohabitant. Bail set at $25,000.

Grand Theft

  • Kyle Morrow, 27, of Milpitas, Aug. 17, 4 p.m., at the San Jose Hall of Justice, 190 W. Hedding St., for misdemeanor grand theft of automobile, firearm.

Hit-And-Run

  • Heather Mager, 20, of Mountain View, April 15, 10:30 a.m., at Stevens Creek Boulevard and Mary in Cupertino, for misdemeanor hit-and-run.

I just emailed Sgt. Stephen Walpole, but he's on vacation until June 20. I last reported on a rapeRead More at the Los Gatos Lodge in March, but Sgt. Harris back then said the department's records unit need time to research just how many of these sex crimes had been reported to police. I'll check with the district.
