Patch Watch: Vandalism on Roberts Road Bridge Underpass Benches

Do you have any blight or problem spots to report to Los Gatos Patch? If so, please send your Patch Watch suggestion to Sheila.Sanchez@patch.com. Thank you!

Los Gatos resident David Lane emailed us a photo of graffiti on the wood of one of the two benches located on the Roberts Road Bridge underpass on the Los Gatos Creek Trail.

Lane said he had contacted Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Chief Scott Seaman about the vandalism and was pleased that he had received a reply about his concern in early April.

Chief Seaman told Lane to help apprehend the vandals by either providing the police with a description, or photo of the perpetrators.

Lane, an ardent community volunteer who organizes cleanups around the Los Gatos Creek and other locations, reports that both benches were damaged this past spring.

He also says someone decided to invite "Blondie" to the prom using very large purple spray paint lettering on the Roberts Road Bridge, which has now been cleaned up.

We recently visited the underpass after Lane brought this spot to our attention and discovered that the wood on the benches had been sanded down and that the graffiti had been removed.

Thank you to Lane for keeping an eye out for blighted spots around town and to town parks and public works personnel for cleaning it up.
