Monte Sereno Burglary Suspect Arrested
James Michael Johnson is alleged to have stolen $50,000 in bicycles, electronics and jewelry from residence located on the 15000 block of Karl Avenue in Monte Sereno.
Los Gatos/Monte Sereno police have arrested a man believed to have burglarized a Karl Avenue residence on Thanksgiving 2012 with an accomplice.
The suspect, James Michael Johnson, 32, is in custody at the Santa Clara County Jail pending a plea hearing at 1:40 p.m. Nov. 19 in Dept. 23 of the San Jose Hall of Justice.
According to Los Gatos Monte Sereno police, Johnson and another burglar broke into the Monte Sereno residence at about 5 p.m. Nov. 23, 2012 stealing more than $50,000 in bicycles, electronics and jewelry.
The homeowners were out of town due to the holiday, according to police.
Preliminary investigation revealed the burglars entered the home, which didn't have a security alarm, via a back door to the master bedroom, said police Sgt. spokesman Stephen Walpole.
Johnson has been charged with felony first-degree burglary and felony theft of property.
The first offense carries a punishment of up to six years in prison, according to the California Penal Code.
Johnson was arrested June 12, 2013 after an arrest warrant was issued due to a probation violation.
