Los Gatos-Saratoga Sheriff's Arrests: Doctor Faces Felony Drug Charges

A look at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's arrests and booking reports for Sept. 19-Oct. 8, 2012. The following arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Vehicle Code Violations

  • Shohab Mahallati, 34, of Santa Clara, Sept. 19, 10:45 a.m., at Winchester and Knowles in Los Gatos, for misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked and using wireless telecommunication device.
  • Fernando Maciel, 26, of Madera, Sept. 25, 2:45 p.m., at Winchester Boulevard and Lark Avenue in Los Gatos, for misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked and an infraction for failing to abide by regulations related to turns at intersection.
  • Kavin Vogler, 21, of Los Gatos, Sept. 25, 7:46 p.m., at Highway 17 and Lark Ave. in Los Gatos, for infractions related to failing to provide evidence of financial responsibility of vehicle, license plate violation and misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked.
  • Russell Varguez, 35, of Los Gatos, Aug. 23, 7 a.m., at Highway 85 and De Anza Boulevard in Cupertino, for misdemeanor driving with privileges suspended or revoked and an infraction of driver facing red signal shall stop.

Possession

  • Jose Ortega, 49, of Los Gatos, Oct. 8, 8:30 p.m., at 19100 Bear Creek Rd. in Los Gatos, for felony possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana/hash for sale, selling or aiding in the selling of stolen merchandise and misdemeanor unlawful possession of paraphernalia and using/being under the influence of a controlled substance. Bail set at $36,000.

  • Richard Paiz, 65, of Los Gatos, Oct. 4, 6:32 p.m., at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, 55 W. Younger Ave. in San Jose, for felony child pornography.

Protective Order Violation

  • Mary Manning, 56, of Los Gatos, Sept. 29, 11:20 a.m., at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, 55 W. Younger Ave. in San Jose, for misdemeanor violation of protective order.

Assault with Firearm/Criminal Threats

  • Thad Ritchey, 32, of Los Gatos, Oct. 5, 10:15 a.m., at the San Jose Hall of Justice, 190 W. Hedding St., for felony making threats to commit crime resulting in injury and assault with a firearm.

DUI

  • Mary Carnathan, 30, of Los Gatos, Oct. 5, 6:30 p.m., at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, 55 W. Younger Ave. in San Jose, for misdemeanor DUI.

Vehicle Theft

  • Maurice Harris, 50, of Union City, Oct. 8, 3:30 a.m., at 1750 Saratoga Ave. in Saratoga, for felony driving/taking vehicle without owner's consent.

Assault/Battery

  • Gerard Retamoso, 71, of Saratoga, Sept. 7, 10:05 a.m., at 13777 Fruitvale Ave. in Saratoga, for misdemeanor assault and battery.
