On Jan. 17 the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department received information from an anonymous source that a suspicious subject, identified as Theodore Lorigo, had recently attended religious services for several weeks at Chabad of San Jose, 15405 Los Gatos Blvd., the Los Gatos synagogue.

Through further investigation, it was determined that Lorigo was a registered sex offender and was seen by witnesses frequenting a Hebrew Day School in Sunnyvale, according to Los Gatos/Monte Sereno police Sgt. spokesman Clinton Tada.

Los Gatos/Monte Sereno police detectives contacted Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and provided its officers with the information, which they followed up and obtained an arrest warrant for Lorigo.

The 43-year-old San Jose man was arrested Jan. 23 and booked into Santa Clara County Jail thanks to the tip from the LGMSPD, according to police officials, who added that Lorigo was identified by school employees after being captured on school video surveillance.

At the time of his arrest, Lorigo also in possession of an altered California Identification card.

Sunnyvale police detectives have filed charges against Lorigo with the District Attorney’s Office for false identification and unlawfully entering school grounds in violation of his registration requirements.

Sunnyvale police officials are asking for anyone who has been in recent contact with or has information about Lorigo to contact Sunnyvale Detective Joel Lockwood at 408-730-7134.

Thank goodness people were paying attention and the offender was caught... Creepy!

I too am glad people were paying attention. Just a heads up for Patch writers/moderators: Titling the post "Los Gatos Police Help Nab Cross-Dressing Sex Offender" leaves the impression that cross-dressers are sex offenders and that this was the reason for the recent arrest. That would be like saying "Los Gatos Police Help Nab Black Sex Offender" or ""Los Gatos Police Help Nab Jewish Sex Offender". Neither race, religion or sexual orientation correlates with sexual offenses. One does not necessarily lead to the other. The reason he was arrested was for being a registered sex offender on school premises.

MD, that is an excellent point, I felt the same thing when I read the headline. Thank you for pointing that out.

Good point. In other news, I just heard this website is being decommissioned as of today. Patch editors have been laid off and I am sad to report this publication will never be the same. AOL sold Patch to Hale Global who today axed all editors. Ouch!!

There is an update to this story. I believe it is the interest to the community to know that the person that was arrested was not the person that was at the Sunnyvale school. The Charges have been dropped and prosecutors say it was not the same person that was thought to be at the school. I think it is only right that the community should know this outcome of this news story. ABC7local news ran the update to this story yesterday. The link is below. Thank You http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/local/south_bay&id=9458668
