Los Gatos Police Arrest Man Too Drunk to Go to Jail, Taken to Hospital Instead

Nursing staff at Santa Clara County Jail refuse to admit 33-year-old due to high intoxication level while he was vomiting.

Los Gatos police arrested a man for public intoxication in the downtown area who was too drunk to go to jail.

Police say Michael Gregory Manning, 23, was arrested for public intoxication at 1:29 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 on North Santa Cruz and Bean avenues and was transported to the Santa Clara County Jail for incarceration at 150 West Hedding St. in San Jose.

However, jail nursing staff refused to admit him due to Manning's high intoxication level while he was vomiting, police say.

American Medical Response came to the jail and provided medical assistance to Manning, police added.

Manning was issued a Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department citation for public intoxication and was released to AMR care, which transported him to Valley Medical Center for medical assistance.
