Los Gatos Mountain Residents to Observe National Night Out
Neighborhood party tonight aims to promote safety, community networking, and police relations.
The Redwood Estates community will be observing National Night Out tonight, Tuesday, Aug. 6, 6–9 p.m. at 21450 Madrone Drive giving its residents a chance to meet local law enforcement groups that keep the community safe.
Those participating include:
- Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties' sheriff’s departments
- CHP
- Cal Fire
- Central Fire (Santa Clara County)
- Loma Prieta Volunteer Fire and Rescue
Volunteer groups attending include:
- Loma Prieta Amateur Radio Club
- Mountain Emergency Response Corps / American Red Cross
- Summit CERT
- Operation Care & Comfort
According to organizers, participating groups provide a wide range of public safety information for those attending.

The sheriff’s departments bring specialty equipment and personnel.
In past years, there have been SWAT teams, bomb-detecting equipment, search and rescue dogs, and fingerprinting for children, according to the event announcement on the Redwood Estates website.

There will also be fire truck tours, information on home and wildland fire safety, local amateur radio club, CERT, and what the Mountain Emergency Response Corps do in a major disaster. Many of the groups will provide special activities for children.
Nonno’s Italian Cafe will serve a barbecue dinner for $5. Veggie burgers will be available. Purchase dinner tickets at the event, or get them in advance at Nonno’s or the Redwood Estates Services Association's office (check office hours here).
The event is sponsored by the Loma Prieta Community Foundation and the Redwood Estates Services Association.
