Los Gatos Man Arrested For Possession of Firearms in County Park

Ordinance prohibits having weapons in county park lands.

A Los Gatos man was arrested last month by Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies for misdemeanor possession of firearms or weapons in a county park.

According to a sheriff's arrest report, Bryan Rose, 19, was taken into custody at 8:45 a.m. Feb. 10 at Old Santa Cruz Highway and Lexington School Road for misdemeanor violation of a Santa Clara County ordinance that prohibits having, setting, leaving or depositing, firing or discharging into county park lands any weapon.

The ordinance also prohibits possession of spears, missiles, sling shots, traps or hunting devices, air or gas weapons, throwing knives or axes, or any other weapon or device capable of injuring or killing any person or animal, damaging any property or natural resource in a county park.

It's not clear from the arrest report whether Rose was taken into custody at Lexington Reservoir County Park or at Old Santa Cruz Highway and Lexington School Road.

The park's entrance is located at 17770 Alma Bridge Rd. and includes hundreds of acres in the Santa Cruz Mountains above Los Gatos and accessible from Highway 17.
