Updated: Vehicle in Los Gatos Jeweler Robbery Found, Suspects at Large

Two armed men wearing ski masks steal undisclosed valuables from Blacy's Fine Jewelers on University Avenue fleeing in a vehicle.

Update: 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28: The vehicle used by two ski-mask-wearing men who robbed at gunpoint Blacy's Fine Jewelers Tuesday at around noon has been located, police said today.

Nobody was hurt during the heist in broad daylight in busy downtown Los Gatos Tuesday, but nearby merchants are concerned about the brazen nature of the crime.

The vehicle used by the robbers was initially described by a witness as a blue Acura with a Washington license place, whose number was provided.

However, Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police say they instead found a gray VW Jetta, with a North Carolina license plate which matched the witness' license plate number information, abandoned in a parking lot on Miles Avenue, about four blocks from the jewelry store with a small amount of jewelry inside and outside the car.

Investigators have determined that the Jetta is an unreported stolen vehicle with a stolen license plate from another car and the jewelry located at the site is a portion of the valuables taken from Blacy's.

The parking lot where the vehicle was found is immediately adjacent to the heavily traveled Los Gatos Creek Trail and is also the site of the town's public sandbagging station. Police are requesting anyone who may have been on the trail or in the parking lot at around 12:10 p.m. and observed anything suspicious to contact investigators.

Police have also released the attached video of the robbery.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspects should contact LGMS Police Sgt. Mike D’Antonio, with the Investigations Bureau, at 408-827-3219, during business hours; or LGMS Police Communications at 408-354-8600, after hours.

Los Gatos Blacy's Fine Jewelers in downtown was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday at around noon by two ski mask wearing thieves escaping with expensive valuables, police say.

The two men were armed with black, semi-automatic pistols and entered the business, located at 51 University Ave., holding the staff at gunpoint, smashing several display cases and taking jewelry, according to Los Gatos Monte Sereno police.

The suspects are described as Asian or Hispanic males, 25 to 30 years of age, of average build, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 in height; wearing dark-colored ski masks, black or grey sweatshirts, dark pants, possibly blue jeans, and black gloves.

Town police were alerted about the theft after receiving a 911 call from a business employee who reported the suspects had fled the area, driving northbound on University Avenue in a blue Acura.

When officers arrived on-scene they were told by witnesses that the suspects had exited their vehicle near the store and entered the business with their faces covered committing the crime in a matter of minutes, re-entering their vehicle and fleeing the scene.

The store surveillance camera took the attached photos of the robbery.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspects should contact LGMS Police Sgt. Mike D’Antonio, with the Investigations Bureau, at 408-827-3219, during business hours; or LGMS Police Communications at 408-354-8600, after hours.

San Jose Police are also looking for two armed men who on Monday morning got into a shootout with the owner of Joyeria Store Vanessa, 1642 Story Rd. in San Jose, near King Road. Fortunately, nobody was injured but the pair has not been arrested or ID'd.

Most jewelers should have a two door entry in which they have to buzz every visitor in. The one by my house works where the second door will not open until the first door is closed.

I found out last night that the woman in the video, with the ponytail, who is hovering over her baby is a friend of my downstairs neighbor. She said that she is VERY freaked out. They held a gun to her head and everything and she begged them not to kill her baby

This is horrible, and that poor woman with the baby must have been hysterical. I'm so glad no one was hurt (physically, at least).

I see where they pointed a gun in her direction, and maybe said something to her. But I COMPLETELY missed the part where they "...held a gun to her head and everything...". "Personally" I would have immediately positioned myself between my child and the gunmen. I didn't see that either.
