Los Gatos Hit-and-Run Suspect Arrested

Jason Paul Wilkinson was arrested after fleeing the scene of his Soquel accident late Thursday.

A Los Gatos man accused of a hit-and-run collision on Soquel-San Jose Road at 9:35 Thursday night could run no longer when it became clear he needed medical attention.

Jason Paul Wilkinson, 20, of Los Gatos, collided his Acura Integra head-on with the Toyota Prius of Janae Marie Replogle, 35, of Santa Cruz and fled the scene on foot. The crash, near the intersection of Soquel-San Jose and Olson Road, was over seven miles north of Soquel Drive.

When the incident was reported, Santa Cruz CHP alerted nearby hospitals to look out for anyone matching the "major injury" description of Wilkinson, CHP Officer Sarah Jackson said.

At approximately 3 a.m., Wilkinson arrived at Dominican Hospital, having been transported by an unknown person. It's unclear if it was a friend, family member or an unrelated citizen helping the injured man, Jackson said.

"Due to the severity of his injury, Wilkinson was released to the custody of the hospital," Jackson said.

He was arrested by CHP officers at Dominican and charged with felony hit and run. Because Replogle suffered injuries, although minor, the charge is a felony.

Replogle was treated at Dominican and released. The crash is still under investigation.
