Downed Power Line Blocks Highway 17 in Los Gatos Friday

A downed power line on southbound Highway 17, just north of Bear Creek Road, has been causing traffic delays and blocking the fast lane for more than five hours Friday.

According to California Highway Patrol officer Eric Anderson, the first call reporting the incident came at 3:35 p.m. when a big rig clipped the power line.

CHP is waiting on either PG&E or AT&T to arrive at the scene and repair the the damages, Anderson said.

The southbound No. 1 lane is blocked as of 9 p.m.

No injuries were reported as a result of the accident, Anderson said.

"It's their [AT&T] pole. They're still on their way up there. It's Friday evening so it might take a while to get a crew out there," Anderson said, when asked how long it would be before the pole is removed.
