County Coroner IDs Woman Hit Head-On by Morgan Hill Train

A woman who died when a train collided with her SUV on Wednesday in Morgan Hill has been identified as Bianka Carranza of Morgan Hill, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Witnesses had reported seeing Carranza at about 9 p.m. Wednesday driving down East Central Avenue near Butterfield Boulevard just before the collision, Morgan Hill police said.

She drove over a curb, went onto the sidewalk and then onto the railroad tracks, police said.

A Union Pacific train was going around 45 mph when it hit Carranza's SUV head-on, according to police.

A spokesman for Morgan Hill police could not be reached today to comment about the investigation into the collision.
